On the notorious Big Kahuna rapid on the Snake river near Jackson Hole Wyoming, the Lunchcounter is an experts-only wave. The tight lava-rock channel means surfers have few exit opportunities once off the wave, with an already difficult swim. The rapid is also rafted frequently, so surfers need to be ready to dodge rafts floating down the river. Optimum flows are between 7,500 and 14,000 cfs, but the wave is surfable at both lower and higher values.
